How placement decisions are made
Every client starts with a confidential clinical assessment that looks at substance use, mental health symptoms, safety, support system, and the realities of work, school, and family life.
Movement between levels is expected. People often step from PHP to IOP to outpatient, or move in the other direction if life becomes less stable and more structure is needed again.
What treatment looks like week to week
Across levels, care combines individual therapy, groups, psychiatric support when appropriate, case management, and progress reviews that focus on actual functioning instead of a fixed calendar.
The biggest difference between levels is time commitment and structure, not whether the clinical work is serious.
